You will know his name before he arrives.

Dog Gone Clean has groomed Ocala's dogs for twenty years. Jake is Paul's son, and The Villages is his route.

Jake Nickerson, Hurricane Bath Operator

Jake Nickerson

Hurricane Bath Operator, The Villages

Jake is the kind of young man people are happy to see doing honest work. Calm, respectful, patient, and serious about doing things right. Dogs notice it.

Paul Nickerson

Founder, and builder of the Hurricane Bath

Paul did not fall into this business by accident. He chose dogs. He wanted to build his life around working with them, so he trained at the Florida Institute of Animal Arts and built Dog Gone Clean from the ground up. What started as one trailer and one decision became a focused mobile dog grooming service built on calm handling and full attention. The system came later. The dogs came first.

Paul built the Hurricane Bath himself after years with the commercial systems showed him what to keep and what to fix. Today he trains every Hurricane Bath Operator on that system, starting with his son Jake.

We catch a lot of it in our trailer.

A dog that sheds is going to shed, and nobody can switch that off. What we can do is pull out the dead undercoat that is already loose, in our trailer, so a good share of it never lands on your rugs, your furniture, or your clothes. The Hurricane Bath drives the suds to the skin, the climate controlled dry lifts the coat, and the deshed takes out what is ready to come. Nails, sanitary areas and feet are finished before he walks back inside.

The two things everybody wants to know.

Both are answered on this page. No name, no email, no phone number.

Who we groom. Dogs that do not need haircuts. Short coats and thick coats. We do not groom coats that need haircuts (doodles, poodles, Shih Tzus and friends), the heaviest double coats, or the gentle giants.

Friendly dogs only. A dog that shows aggression toward people is not eligible for this service. Normal wiggling is fine. Aggression is not.

Where we work. A private home with a driveway. There is room to park our truck and trailer (about 2 standard car spaces, front to back). You don't need to clear your driveway. We can park on the street when it's safe and legal.

Real dogs, in the real trailer.

Every photo is a client's dog in the same trailer that parks at your home.

How a visit unfolds.

  1. 1 We park at your home and set up the trailer.
  2. 2 Your dog comes out. Everything happens in the climate controlled trailer.
  3. 3 The Hurricane Bath does the work. Pressure dialed to the dog, suds driven to the skin.
  4. 4 High velocity dry in the same trailer, with the deshed worked out of the coat. No standing wet.
  5. 5 Nails done, a targeted shave of the sanitary areas so clean stays clean, pads shaved and the feet lightly trimmed. The full job, nothing left for later.
  6. 6 Your dog walks back inside clean, dry, and finished. We roll on.

Short coats usually take about half an hour and thick coats about an hour. Every dog gets the time it needs. You stay inside the whole time.
